An Unexpected Meeting on a Morning Hike

On my last trip to Bali around last Summer, I stayed in Ubud where it was famous for its green untouched nature; perfect for photography. My friend recommended me to take a morning hike in Campuhan Hill which was luckily walking distance from the hotel I stayed in. My friend said it was perfect for capturing sunrise and so then I brought my favourite camera which was my Canon 5d Mark 3 because it has amazing exposure. I woke up at 5 am in the morning and then started to hike around 5.30. The view was fascinating and inspiring as it has the essence of the Balinese culture. All around me were green rice paddies. As I was hiking, I came across an old man which I believe was from a village on the other side of the hill. He had this traditional basket carried over his shoulder. One basket was filled with his wheat harvest and the other basket was for carrying his child. I was flabbergasted because I never seen anything like this before. I abruptly changed my goal to capture the perfect sunrise into capturing this perfect moment because it shows how the Balinese villagers do their daily tasks. It was very traditional as they still walk barefoot wearing only a sarong. It shows also how hardworking they are as they have to walk long distances every morning. This photo was only retouched by increasing the contrast and brightness. Other than that I didn’t retouch anything.
